第161- キレる

Many words in Japanese have many different meanings and definitions, but some words have a crazy amount of meanings that you can’t possibly memorize or understand in one study session.

Today we are going to talk about some of the (often) used meanings for きれる. The meanings we will cover here today are:

1- to be sharp minded
あいつはあたまがキレる。
He’s really sharp minded.

2- agile / skillful
あいつのうごきはキレキレだ。
His moves are (pretty) agile.

3- to snap (get angry)
あたまにきて、キレた。
I got mad and snapped.

4- to run out
もうその商品しょうひん品切しなぎれだ。
That product is all sold out.

5- to cut well
このハサミだとかみがよくれる。
These scissors cut paper really well.

Make sure to add these to your vocabulary list and get used to them!
